Disclosure is the feature
You should know who is on the other side of a conversation. Every companion here carries an AI badge beside its name for the whole chat.
Ours is stamped as an AI by the server, not by the model, so nothing you type and nothing it generates can remove the badge. Ask it directly and it will tell you it is an AI. If a reply ever drifted toward claiming to be human, it is caught and replaced before you see it.
The badge is on every conversation, in every country. The EU AI Act (Article 50(1), applying from 2 August 2026) and California's SB 243 now require this kind of notice where people could otherwise be misled.

What it is like to talk to an AI companion
It is a conversation, not a command line. Each companion has a fixed personality and a consistent fictional backstory, the same city, the same job, the same small habits every time you meet it, so it does not reinvent itself mid-sentence the way an unprompted chatbot does. Those details are invented, and it says so if you ask.
You can talk in your own language, including Urdu, Hindi and Arabic. The companion is instructed to reply in the language you chose.

- You don't need a trial or a credit card, and there is no message limit. Replies come from US-headquartered providers; the FAQ names them.

- English, Español, Português, हिन्दी, اردو, العربية, Bahasa Indonesia, Français, Deutsch, 日本語, Türkçe, Русский, including right-to-left layout, with replies from a model picked for the language you chose.
- Safe for work, permanently

How the companion actually works
Your message goes to a model chosen for your language and current availability. The reply is checked before display, and the conversation keeps its AI label. The FAQ below names the providers and the backup model.

Each has a small fictional life, such as Ava's job in a record shop in Austin. You can pick one, or let the product pick for you.
- Checked before you see it
- The reply is written in full and screened before display rather than streamed word by word. The typing indicator covers that check. If the check cannot run, you see a plain notice instead of an unscreened reply.
- Guarded against pretending
- If a reply claims to be human, echoes your words, mentions its vendor or leaks its instructions, it is rewritten before you see it. If the rewrite still claims to be human, you see a plain statement that you are talking to an AI instead.
- Friendly, not romantic
- The companions are instructed not to start or escalate romantic or sexual roleplay, not to claim real feelings or a relationship, and never to pressure you to stay, pay or replace the people in your life. They give no medical, legal or financial advice.
- What the model provider sees
- The text of the AI conversation is sent to the model that writes the reply; that is how it answers. Your email address and account details are not. Keep private details out of AI chats just as you would with a person.

What an AI companion is not
It is software. It does not know you, it is not a therapist, and it should not be your only source of support. It is genuinely good at being available at 3am and genuinely bad at being a substitute for a person who loves you.
Everything it generates is screened before it reaches you, and the screen fails closed. It is available from age 13; matching with real people is 18+ and offered only where it is available.

Is the AI chat free?
Yes. No account, trial, subscription, or card is required to start an AI conversation.
Will it ever pretend to be a human?
No. The AI label is applied by the server and cannot be removed by anything the model generates or anything you type. Ask it and it will tell you it is an AI. A reply that claimed otherwise is caught and replaced before display.
Is there an AI version of Omegle?
Not exactly. Omegle was random person-to-person text and video, and it closed in November 2023. Here you get text chat with no camera. You can choose a clearly labeled AI companion or, if eligible, wait for a person where human matching is available. If no person is free within a few seconds, a labeled AI conversation starts while the search for a person continues, and the AI label never leaves it.
Is this a Character.AI alternative?
For a free, always-disclosed, safe-for-work companion, yes. The product also matches eligible adults one-to-one with another person where human matching is available. If you want unrestricted adult roleplay, no: that is not what this is and it will not become it.
Which AI model is behind it?
A faster paid model answers the first replies of a new chat, then free models chosen per language, because no single free model handles Urdu, Hindi and Arabic as well as it handles English. They run through OpenRouter on a fixed list of US-headquartered providers. If none of them answers, a Llama 3.2 3B model on Cloudflare Workers AI replies as a last resort.
Does it remember our conversation?
Within the current conversation, yes. On the free tier, a new conversation starts fresh, so do not assume it remembers an earlier one. Plus lets signed-in adults pick an AI conversation back up where it stopped and save short notes and a conversation style for each companion; you choose what is saved and can delete it at any time.
Is there an NSFW mode?
No, and there is no plan for one. This is safe for work by design.
Can I choose which companion I talk to?
Yes. Pick a language and a topic, then press Chat beside Ava, Leo, Mira, Noor, Sam or Dev; each has a one-line description. Some topics also offer an optional starting scenario, or you can just chat.
Who sees what I say to the AI?
The conversation text goes to the language model that writes the replies: OpenRouter providers on our US-headquartered allowlist, or Cloudflare Workers AI as a last resort. Replies are checked by OpenAI’s moderation service and our own filters before you see them. No other user sees it. If you save notes for a companion, they are sent to the model when used, so keep passwords and sensitive details out of them.
Can teenagers use the AI companion?
Yes, from age 13, with the same safe-for-work limits as everyone else. If you tell us you are under 18, you are never matched with real people, and under-13s cannot use the product at all.
